Changes for the 2012-2013 school year
The school year will greet us with changes that meet the new federal regulations regarding school lunch. First Lady, Michelle Obama, has instituted changes to reduce childhood obesity by focusing on more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and portion control. Lunch options will now consist of five categories of which your child will select a minimum of three. One of their choices MUST be a fruit or a vegetable. The other choices are a fat free or low-fat milk, grain, or meat/meat alternative. Please emphasize with your child the importance of fruits and vegetables in a healthy diet.
