Dual Language Immersion Programs

Utah Dual language Immersion (DLI) is a state supported program in which students spend half the day in English with one teacher and half the day with another teacher in a second language. Park City School District offers programs with Spanish and French as second languages. The mission of Dual Immersion is to prepare linguistically and culturally competent students who can successfully compete in a complex global economy.

What's new?

There will be no change to the Dual Language Immersion kinder class for 2013-14.  The district is currently studying the effectiveness of the program and sustainability of DLI kindergarten but no changes would be enacted until 2014-15.

The district has organized a Dual Language Enrollment Committee to examine the preferences applied in the lottery process for admission into the Dual Immersion Programs. The committee met and is conducting a survey to accurately predict future enrollment of siblings in the program. Additional surveys and other forms of contributing input from constituents will be conducted as part of the on-going study.

The district administration made a recommendation to the board on May 7, 2013 to expand the McPolin Dual Langugae Immersion program starting with first grade in the Fall of 2013. The board will voted on this topic on May 21, 2013 and McPolin will expand the program in the Fall of 2013. If you have a first grade student at McPolin, they will be enrolled in the program when you register.
