3-11-20: All Park City schools are open. In the event of school closures, you will receive communications from the district and school status will be posted here on the homepage. Preemptive closure due to COVID-19 is not recommended at this time by Summit County Health Department. On Friday, March 13, we will be sending instructions to all parents on continued learning in the event of a potential closure. Reminder: there will be no classes Monday, March 16, due to a scheduled teacher professional learning day.

3-10-20: Park City School District is working closely with Summit County health officials and will follow their expert recommendations to best ensure the safety of everyone in our school community. Of course learning at school primarily occurs inside classrooms with face-to-face teaching by certified educators using interactive technology tools.

School Closure Q/A

Be assured we are currently doing the following:

– Working proactively to clean all high-touch surfaces nightly.

– Promoting safe hygiene methods with students, staff, and community.

– Actively monitoring illness statistics across the district.

– Examining student and staff travel for continuation.

– Preparing educational mission for at-home, electronic, and paper delivery.

– Preparing staff for optimal operations in the event of a closure.

– Preparing for post incident recovery of schools in the event of a closure.

COVID-19 is spread very similar to the flu and common colds. For this reason, we are encouraging our students and staff to actively wash their hands and take all of the same precautions they would normally take to avoid these illnesses. Please encourage your children to do the same at home as they build healthy habits.

Board Makes Decision on Grade Alignment

Following 11 months of work in 2018-19 that involved students, teachers, administrators, parents and community members, the district has received the final versions of its Future of Learning  Educational Specifications, the Facilities Master Plan, and the Analysis of Existing Buildings and an Appendix of all documents created as part of the master planning process.

At its Dec. 17 meeting, the Board of Education made grade alignment decisions that will guide the next steps in our master planning process. The district will continue to pursue expanded preschool offerings at each of the four elementary schools with two of those sites potentially adding enough space for wrap services for our youngest learners including before and after care. The 6-8 middle school model will be researched on cost and feasibility for adding a cafeteria and additional protected classroom spaces for the 6th grade. Finally, a comprehensive one 9-12 high school program with remodels based on the secondary design team’s initial work will be costed out, as well as consideration for addressing career and technical education now and in the future. This end of 2019 direction provides us with much to research in the coming year.

The district selected MHTN as its bond architect. MHTN will apply the Future of Learning master plan and Educational Specifications to its design phase.

For more information please visit our Future of Learning website here.
