Pancakes, not just for breakfast anymore!
When asked why Family and Consumer Sciences or more commonly called FACS is Lilly's favorite class, she responded with an exhuberant, "I love pancakes!" And who wouldn't when you get to make them with your friends? As Lily, explained, it's much more fun to cook with friends, aka, "Peer Tutors".
Teachers at Treasure Mountain Jr. High wholeheartedly agree with Lilly. Peer Tutoring is an invaluable class that connects tutors with students in the Life Skills program. According to Ciera Fitz, TMJH Special Educator, "Peer Tutors are essential to our program. They provide the social and academic support for students to actively participate in the classes of their choice, and they make it fun!"
Peer Tutors are often the first bridge for students at the middle school and junior high level to achieve more independence, independent of their parents, families, and teachers. We celebrate the dedicated students and teachers that make Peer Tutoring a success at all of our secondary schools!
