Business as Usual: PCHS Students Make a Pitch for Greatness

Park City – Four teams from Park City High School were named finalists in the 2025 Tim Draper High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge (HSUEC), placing in the top 20 out of over 220 teams across the state. This prestigious competition, hosted by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah, challenges students to develop innovative business ideas and pitch them to a panel of judges.

The competition concluded with a public showcase and awards ceremony at Lassonde Studios on the University of Utah campus. While the Park City teams did not take home the top prize, their creative ideas, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit earned them recognition among some of the brightest young minds in Utah.

Park City High School Finalist Teams:

  • GymBros – Created by Silas Miller, Miki Lukrich, and Beckett Finkel, this platform connects fitness enthusiasts to enhance workout experiences and foster a supportive community.
     
  • LQ Junk Removal – Developed by Levi Michalis, James Smoak, and Calvin Wang, this business provides eco-friendly junk removal services, with an emphasis on recycling and responsible disposal.
     
  • The Windshield Protector – Created by Preston Verbaas and Tanner Volla, this innovative product helps shield vehicle windshields from damage caused by environmental factors, reducing repair costs for drivers.
     
  • Toga – Founded by Sophie Dunkel and Finley Hoeksema, this versatile clothing line combines comfort and style, targeting consumers seeking adaptable fashion options.
     

Ryan Cook, the Park City High School business teacher and mentor for the teams, expressed his pride in the students' achievements. "To have four teams named finalists in a statewide competition like this is a testament to the creativity, drive, and hard work of our students. Their ability to take an idea and develop it into a business plan at such a high level is truly impressive."

The Utah High School Entrepreneur Challenge provides students with valuable experience in problem-solving, business development, and professional pitching. Park City High School continues to demonstrate excellence in preparing students for future success, and the achievements of these teams reflect the strong support and innovative spirit within the school community.
