Damon West Inspires Park City Teachers with Story of Transformation

PARK CITY, Utah – On October 11, 2024, Park City School District staff gathered at the Eccles Center for a powerful presentation by Damon West, a former meth addict turned university professor and motivational speaker. West shared his incredible journey from a 65-year prison sentence for his involvement in the 2008 Uptown burglaries to becoming a best-selling author and global speaker.

During his time in prison, West experienced a profound transformation after a conversation with a fellow inmate, Muhammad, who encouraged him to be a "coffee bean"—someone who can change their environment through resilience and positivity. West's message of self-care, servant leadership, and persistence captivated the audience, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the present and future, regardless of past mistakes.

West's journey, which he chronicled in the book *The Coffee Bean* alongside co-author Jon Gordon, has inspired people worldwide. His story underscored the power of positive energy, the need for personal growth in mind, body, and spirit, and the value of helping others achieve their goals.

Supported by the Park City Education Foundation, this event encouraged educators to bring a transformative mindset to their classrooms and continue fostering a positive environment throughout the district.
